It sounds silly but for years... what am I saying? I still have to stop and think. My husband and son celebrate their birthday's within 4 days of each other. I know that we have birthdays on the 14th and the 18th but I have to make a conscious effort to remember who is which. My helpful reference has always been an obscure little photo that I haven't even looked at for many years but pops into my mind right at the moment of confusion. It's a picture of wee baby Cory held on his daddy's lap with a bow on his head. I titled it 'daddy's best birthday gift'. Baby with bow, on daddy's lap means baby was here for daddy's birthday. Cory-14th, Dad 18th. Yes, I question this mind of mine.
An impromptu party consisiting of family, food, cake, gifts, Outburst and Charades... I think he actually enjoyed turning another year older.
Blessings, Debbie
Best kind of Birthday..Together as Family!
ReplyDelete~~HUGS~~
It looks like y'all had a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteMy fourth child was born four hours after my father in-law's birthday so we always had back to back cake!
What a wonderful and beautiful family you have, and what better birthday present could a dad want! Lovely :-)
ReplyDeleteSO much fun! Happy birthday to your hubby. I love that cake!
ReplyDeleteHappiest of birthday wishes!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I well understand having to sort through the order of significant events in such a manner. The births of my children are FABULOUS markers for other events that were going on in life. You know, "That happened 10 years ago, because YS was a baby then."
ReplyDeleteHappy BirthdayS!!!!!
Oh, the celebrations look so fun and warm and loving in your home, Debbie!! Just love that you share that joy with us! Starts my day out with a smile on my face! Happy Birthday to your dear hubby! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your husband! Your family has our kind of celebration. Outburst is one of my favorite group games, and I burst out better than the best of them.
ReplyDeleteLoving this birthday party...love the smiles all around, love the games, love impromptu...love how happy hubby looks!
ReplyDelete(And don't feel bad...Ron and I and our first two children and my mom all have August birthdays, and it challenges my memory all month long!)
Happy days!
Happy Birthday to your Man!
ReplyDeleteOur month of May is crazy - Dad on the 5th, our niece on the 7th, Mom on the 15th, Nate on the 24th, another niece on the 28th, Rachel on the 31st! That is besides Mother's Day and two of my husband's sibling's wedding anniversaries....sigh. It is a challenge to keep it all in order...
Have a wonderful day!
Deanna
The best thing...to know you are loved, he is very blessed! ;D
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks so happy! Two of my sons have birthdays on the 15th and 14th of the same month. The only way I can remember whose is which is because I remember having the older's birthday the day before we went to the hospital.
ReplyDeleteHey, whatever it takes to help us remember..........
ReplyDeleteYay! Happy Birthday to him! Umm, why does that first present have a cord attached...?
ReplyDeleteLooks like they both had a great time. Hope you have a happy day today.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful way to spend a birthday. Wishing all the best to your hubby and son and all of you, actually! xo
ReplyDeleteSo very nice. I always tell my husband each birthday he gets hotter and hotter. :) He does too. He of course thinks I am nuts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice family! love,andrea
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice party. Happy Birthday to your hubby. I love that sign over the fireplace. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Hugs, JB
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fun party!
I forget, is that Oregon sweatshirt for the Ducks or the Beavers?
Thank you so much, Debbie, for visiting my Little Birds blog and for leaving sweet words. I recognized your name from seeing your visits to Cheryl's blog. Elizabeth Prentiss is indeed one of my all-time favorite authors, second only to Amy Carmichael. Back when I first discovered her works, I did almost-daily internet searches trying to find her out-of-print books. So thank for the internet and for the opportunity to find and own things we would never have been able to own just a decade or two ago. The happiest of birthdays to your husband and your son! I love your pictures! Hugs from my heart to yours! .... Frances
ReplyDeleteLove the Ducks cake...he even dressed to match your party theme! Now, that's a good husband! Thanks for sharing the party with us.
ReplyDeleteI have a niece and an ex sister in law who had birthday's close like that and I never had to keep them straight exactly because we always celebrated them together, but now the ex is gone and I need to know when the niece's exact day is!
And a "happy day" to you too! Looks like everyone had a good time.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your guy! looks like a lot of fun....I still have to think through birthday years for my kiddos...it' just what happens to mama's brains. Enjoy your days.
ReplyDeleteThe room is warm and welcoming. The family crowding around it, comfortable, at home. The faces - yes, a good place, a blessed place. The energy and the fun come through the images. And I have two birthdays, son and daughter, within ten days of each other - and the same problem remembering, but with no such felicitous photo. We may see through a glass darkly, but there is light on the other side of this screen when i read you.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, What a fun time it looks like you all had! Don't feel bad about the b-day confusion -- I have three in August (2nd, 6th, and 12th) Remembering who's b-day is which day can be, well, confusing!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, ~Lisa :)
Looks like a fun party. Outburst is the funnest (is it even a word?) game ever. I had the same confusion in my family with a nephew born January 11th and one born the 16th. Then, eight years ago I had a little baby girl on the 10th of January, and now the nephew with the b-day on the 11th calls her his birthday buddy, so I am no longer confused! At least about this particular birthday.......!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you remember. Looks like a great day!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
