"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! homeschooling ~ the younger years

Our Home school
Debbie Penington

Stretch, shower, coffee, the Word, good morning hugs...
 ...dawn yawns into morning

sharp pencils, books, smiles, questions; why?  how?...
          ...morning studies to noontime

p.b.j. faces, tumbles, naps, chores, daddy, dinner...
          ...afternoon giggles to evening

charlotte's web, cuddles, prayers, good night hugs...
          ...evening yawns into twilight

rest from today, dreams for tomorrow...
          ...the dark hours snore.

Blessings,  Debbie

  1. What a beautiful & poetic reminder!

There IS blessing/security/satisfaction in routines; value in repetition; grace in the daily patterns of family living.

  2. Good....that sums it up wonderfully. I don't think mine has been as poetic, well high school at least...we spent so many hours in the car with home school sports. LOL

  3. Oh, makes me miss when I was teaching five at once and they were all so little. I have just one now...so different. Have a great weekend.
PS: I love that you signed up for the craft forward. I have taxes to do this weekend and then I will be working on something just fabulous for you...not sure what yet, but I'm sure it will be just grand!

  5. Yup--you've captured it perfectly in this poem! :-) I *love* that photo: the staircase leading up to the light, and the bookcase set just below it; lovely and meaningful.

  6. Debbie, (re the Jonathan Edwards quote) My sister-in-law was reading some sermons or writings of his directed to young people. She shared a few of them with me. They are passionate and full of pleading with youth to give their lives to God. Old-fashioned, of course...

  8. I wish I had known about homeschooling............way late now of course!
Thanks for visiting my blog, this is the first time I have seen yours. Your life style reminds me much of my youth, growing up in a remote area of Australia. In many ways I envy you......
Small simple things were very very precious, America has become SO acquisitive.Bless you, Debbie.

  11. You're good! I don't have the gift of writing poetry, even free verse. I love it when someone does.

You captured your day beautifully, and I love that photo you chose.
