"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! life song

the new instrument that replaced the $5.00 one

They say that everyone has a song inside.  My dad has been trying to play his with a $5.00 yard sale guitar that slips out of tune quicker than he can get his fingers back in place.

I think our song is a compilation of all that we hope, all that we love, all that we regret and all that we rejoice.  There are the beautiful notes and the interesting notes, the upbeat fun notes and slow melancholy notes.  Sometimes there are terrifying notes that you question, yet you play on...  The opus comes together when you find your chords of praise.  Now the song has depth and richness that was missing. And somehow, when it's time to perform for the Master Himself, you have composed a life song that is stunning, moving, passionate.  Simply you.

I pray dad that this new instrument brings a rich harmony to all of the melodies that are your life.  I love you.
Happy Father's Day

Blessings, Debbie

  3. Even though I'm not much of a singer, I love writing my song and singing every chance I get...God did say to make a joyful noise, right?

  4. That is a very sweet picture. I hope he gets the guitar to play the notes that are in his heart. As I have learned it isn't the quality of the instrument as it is the beauty of the heart. Your Dad had a very sweet face.

  17. I always love visiting here. I'm eager to read what you have to say because I always carry a nugget with me. Praise does add richness and depth. Yet we need all the others to make the praise possible. Love that!

Your father has such a kind face.

    Playing my opus,

  20. What a thoughtful gift! If you asked my hubby how many guitars he owns, he doesn't know. I have found them stashed under beds and in closets. He's been collecting them for 45 years! He's left-handed and used to play them "upside down and backwards" (ask your dad about that) so he could pick up any guitar and play it. Then about a decade ago he decided to buy his first "left-handed" guitar and re-taught himself how to play the other way. (very confusing)...

That looks like a beautiful instrument! What kind is it? Your dad looks thrilled! I really loved this post!
