The Hope and the History

Like footprints on the beach, my life leaves an imprint.
If I look forward I see nothing but sand as eternity
stretching before me.
stretching before me.
If I look back I see the path that I've taken.
Steady prints, directed steps
giving a clue as to what was happening with my walk.
giving a clue as to what was happening with my walk.
I prefer to look forward, throwing a backward glance now and then.
If I look too closely at what my feet are doing this moment
I risk missing out on the hope,
and the history.
and the history.
The hope of an unmarked stretch of eternity before me,
and the history of lessons learned
and love lived behind.
Blessings, Debbie

Hi Debbie!
ReplyDeleteI see some of my favorite books on your sidebar. I especially love the More With Less Cookbook. Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitting Almanac is wonderful, too. I look at it over and over again. Have a sweet weekend, friend!
I love this. Hope and history...life lived and the possibilities ahead....ahhh.
ReplyDeleteDeep thoughts for a Saturday morning! Yes, I hope I learn from my history so the path before me is less bumpy..... as smooth as sand! Beautifully written!
