"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! 2 amigos hit the trail

This past Saturday was the home school used curriculum sale for central Oregon.  It's tradition that the 3 amigos take to the trail this day.  One of the amigos lives in the valley so she first begins her adventure the day previous.  It is imperative that she be here the night before, because as every bueno amigo knows you don't keep the rest waiting on this morning of mornings.  Sadly, the valley amigo had a last minute change of plans that left her in the awkward position of disappointing those this side of the mountain. Tradition has officially been broken!  It's a good thing that we are the forgiving sort or we may have had to send a bounty hunter...

Not to be discouraged the 2 remaining amigos (the ones who are true to tradition) gathered at 7:00 am, mocha and chai in hand, to forge forward with the standing plan.  On the 45 minute drive to the city we considered the world's problems, and laughed.  Not that we think that the world's problems are funny...

So, tradition states that the first thing we do is yard sale.

doll $1.00, coloring book .25 cents immaculate woven rug $10.00

Polish pottery $5.00 ea.

big vintage children's picture books .25 cents each

large pint size sourdough crocks $1.00 each

On the 45 minute drive home we solved the world's problems, and laughed.  Because our solutions... they are funny.

*The curriculum sale wasn't as good as usual.  I did get the one thing on my list but it wasn't cute enough for   the photo.  ;)
**Khonda, you are forgiven...  But we may not be so generous if you pull this again!

Blessings, Debbie

  1. That's a great tradition, and I hope next year your duet is back to being a trio. I love those books. I have some of them here, in fact. I'm such a book freak. It was hard to FORCE myself to rid the house of some at our recent sale.

I have decided that I need a tradition like that. Now to figure out who to start it with and what to start. Decisions, decisions...

  2. Looks like there was a little more than "used home school curriculum" along the trail!

Now that the world's problems are solved, I'll check that off my "to do list" for today...

And shame on the third amigo!

  13. Oh I love your finds...the dishes are great, the books, have some of those. Now I wish you could go through all my boxes of home school material...bet you have most of them anyway...it is time for me to start departing from them. Now how do you teach a home school mom to let go of all her treasures?

  14. Fantastic rug! Glad you solved all the world's problems, it sure could use some straightening out. I remember Make Room for Ducklings from Capt. Kangaroo. Love the illustrations in children's books.
