"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! eternally dogmatic

Often as Christians we are so thankful for the gift of salvation that we are complacent to just rest in His grace.  What would happen if there was a surge of pro-action in the body.  An understanding that we are living eternity right now.  The moment we became heirs to the kingdom, we became eternally His.  We don't have a stopping and starting point.  We don't die to live again.  Our physical bodies die as a result of the curse but our souls are eternal.  Eternally given over to the purpose of the enemy or eternally given to the Will of the Father.  My desire is to live the existence that began at my salvation.  What if we, the church as a whole, were to pour out ourselves to His will at all times?  Based solely on the knowledge of the reality of our sonship now.

This revelation is not new to me.  I am just more aware today of how much I am not doing, that I should be doing.  When I think about how I order my days, I am convinced that so much is right, yet there is more.  I want to be better about telling people about Jesus.  I want to be better about following through on Holy Spirit nudges that seem important at the beginning of the day, and are forgotten by the end.  I want the study of the Word to always take precedence over any other study in our home school.

I am very aware of works based doctrines that have completely missed the point of grace.  May I never be found guilty of leading someone to believe that this is what I am condoning.  I will forever be amazed and grateful that if I never did any of the things I just mentioned, I would still be a child of God based solely on my belief and submission to the gospel of Jesus.  I just think that I've been so worried about being labeled dogmatic that I've been less effective for the kingdom.

Too dogmatic?  Never mind, I'm leaving it as written. :)

My all

Lord, not my will but thine be done
From break of day
To setting sun
From day of rebirth 'til eternity through
Cause me to give my all for you

Search me and purge me of all that was me
Cleanse me and fill me
With eternity
Test me and find me willing to do
Only the things that bring glory to you.

Bring to my mind your holiness
All that's divine
All that you've blessed
Creation that sings out the power of your love
The downpour of mercy that reigns from above

Search me and purge me of all that was me
Cleanse me and fill me
With eternity
Test me and find me willing to do
Only the things that bring glory to you.

Blessings, Debbie

  1. I was nodding my head throughout this post, Debbie. I particularly relate to the part about the nudges of the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the day. I agree that it is so easy to fall into a grace escape in an honest effort not to be sucked into a works based salvation.

  2. Amen. "To completely miss the point about grace" would be SO tragic! Oh, that my thanksGIVING would overflow "naturally" into thanksLIVING!

  6. very nice poem and good thoughts. A person very much older in the Lord said to me, " Remember you only see how far you need to go, but your life shouts in the darkness to those who have not heard." They went on to say, stay connected to the vine and you will be like that lamp on the lamp stand."
I will be thinking about your post as I go to chop weeds.
    Thanks,

  8. To be completely honest I was thinking it was coming across very strongly, then I realized that your point was to study to be the best you could be which seems to me to be the entire point of everything.

  11. A very beautiful poem! Our pastor has been encouraging (strongly) lately, this very thing. We all know we are saved by His Grace, but it should move us to action...always moving forward. Thank you for sharing your heart and thoughts with us. xo

  13. We share many great truths here...learning to trust God our Father and being willing to choose his will is the greatest lessons of my life..along with learning to love as He does. Following our Saviors example is everything. (Love your poem too) :D

  14. Debbie,
I totally agree and give me an ah-ha moment...you know I do not think you were too dogmatic; why should you care; your beliefs are your beliefs and one reading this can take it or leave it. I like you put it out there and it is up to each individual person to do with it what they may.
I need to learn to trust God ALL the time; not just when things are good...I think it goes back to childhood though when we had this Push me-Pull me relationship.
Anyway, thank you and again; good for you!

  15. Living in the eternal now.... I too am longing to live with 'thy Kingdom come on earth (right now) as it is in heaven'.

And I'm learning to heed more of those 'feathery' Holy Spirit thoughts. Although there are days when I get to the end of them, I wonder what I could have been doing and thinking, to have missed some obvious ones!!

Thankfully we rest in his ever-present GRACE!

Oh, and I enjoyed your poem. Beautiful thoughts.

    Blessings.......

  16. Beautiful poem, and thoughts!

My hope is to keep my first love burning for Christ, daily! I agree we should not be content to just sit by and not grow in our relationship with Jesus. We were purchased for a price. A debt He did not owe, a price we could not pay! I am so grateful He loves us so!!

    Have a beautiful weekend!

    xoxo...Gloria

  17. A particular longing of my heart is to surrender to Him in regards to everything. The Holy Spirit teaches us so graciously does He not? I loved your post here.
