"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! after the rain

We went for a walk my cousin and I, after the rain..
through town, through town square, the park, then home again.

We've been blessed to live within 45 minutes of all of our immediate family.. always.  Larry's parents and mine, his siblings and their families and mine.  The closest is my sister being just 3 blocks away.  Her kids and my kids are best friends and I know that we are spoiled.  No, not spoiled.  As I began... blessed.

I pray for you the richest of blessings through the love of your family today!

  5. I didn't grow up with any of my cousins, and there are some that I wouldn't even know if I walked past them on the street.

My kids don't live near any of our family, but through Facebook and texting they stay close! I am glad of that!

  7. I would love to live 45 minutes away from my sister :) But I have adjusted to the distance and we see each other as much as we can.

  9. I love this post- short and sweet - but full and rich.

Family means everything. I'm blessed too, that I live (basically) so close to my family. Even then, we still can be "so far apart", if we let it. Our lives and busy schedules and life...in general.

  12. Prineville is the cowboy capital of Oregon and host of the Crooked River Round Up rodeo since 1945. Also, there are still wild mustangs round these here parts. The statue is representative of our county culture. Thanks for asking Lisa!

  13. Debbie, I'm a big fan of living close to family. I live 30 country miles from mine and burn up the roads. I only wish my daughter(s) didn't live so far away. Maybe daughter #2 will graduate from college and move closer to home. A mom can pray and hope.

My kids have no idea what they missed growing up away from other relatives.

  15. You are indeed blessed, Debbie! Growing up with family close by, is one of the things I have really missed in life. A bit envious (sigh). What a pretty town you live in. Really looks like the West.

  18. The fact that you all get along is the true blessing. My husband's brothers and sister here just did not want anyone to get along or one to have more than the other (in their eyes) so they were always causing trouble. We stopped seeing them years ago and it was the best thing we ever did. The brother and sister we do get along with live way over there in Canada. Maybe that's why we get along. Ha! Hope all is well and you have a great weekend. Tammy
