"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! our distinguished guests

As I said yesterday, things were not quite ready for our guests.  We had hoped to do a bit of  painting, maybe lay carpet and make some curtains.  But after a long flight (they came straight here from their visit in Canada) they were exhausted and assured us that, "it's exactly to our liking, just the way it is."  They really are the sweetest of guests!

After retiring to the parlor, Toad and Mole invited us in for tea.  The ever industrious Ratty had a hankering for some fresh butter on his scones (just like he eats them back home on the river) so he worked tirelessly at the churn so everyone else could chat... What a guy!

Long into the night we were regaled with tales of the travels and trials of these 3 comrades.  Toad had us on the edge of our seats while kind Mole lulled us back to safer positions with his quiet manner.

All that churning seemed to take it's toll on Ratty.  He was the first to dismiss himself to softer accommodations with Toad and Mole soon following.  As for me?  I had a hard time falling asleep.  I found myself deeply concerned for Mole.  He seems to be fanning a secret flame.  Someone he left back in Canada... Deborah?

Oh dear, I promised Mole that I wouldn't tell Pom Pom, I hope she's not reading this!

Blessings, Debbie

  3. I'm sure Ratty and Mole are enjoying the comfort of a real house. What style! Toady of course should be used to it. I hope they enjoy their stay.

  6. Really? I wouldn't have suspected that Mole would be a Barbie admirer, but stranger things have happened! Ha ha ha!
Oh my goodness! Do they ever have some fancy digs in Oregon! Ratty looks quite capable churning that butter. How is the book looking? Have you made your mark yet? This tour is absolutely glorious so far! What blessed little Willows, touring the world of wonderful people just like we would all do if we were able and we ARE able as we follow their adventures! Do they go to Minnesota next or Texas? I'll have to check. Well, don't feel pressured to send them off too soon. I feel sure they want to stay as long as possible with YOU, Debbie! (BIG HUG and three kisses for the English boys!)

  10. Such beautiful accomodations!! Poor Mole! Please do tell him that Horsey Barbie says hello and that if he ever has the opportunity to come back this way that she will take him riding. She has the perfect pony just for him. How did the butter turn out?

    Blessings!

  13. What delightful guests you have! (And no need to worry...your accomodations for them are delightful too. I am sure that they will have a mah-velous time!)
Ratty, Mole, and Toad...charming characters. I love them.

I also love what you say about "controlling our atmosphere" and the fact that distractions thwart our efforts. Parenting/homemaking must be intentional if we hope to reap eternal benefits. And that's what I want...and I know that you do too, my "soul sister"!

  24. HAHA!! I'm such a dolt. I thought you were having a different sort of house guests. This is so cute! When my daughter was younger, we did a "Flat Stanley" around the world thing. It was so fun.

  28. It's fun to read the comments of those who weren't aware of the WITW tour! :D Your accomodations are pretty snazzy compared to the rustic surroundings they will encounter in the north woods of Minnesota, but variety is the spice of life, eh? Enjoy your time to the utmost. I'll be tuning in for more adventures!

  29. Ooooh - I've had WITW on my brain lately - how fund to see this... :)

  30. You gave them the most comfortable of accomodations. I bet they'll hate to be leaving.
If I fly all the way down from Canada, can I expect to receive such cozy comforts?
I can't gaurantee I'm nearly as distinguished as Ratty, Mole, and Toad! No, not at all.

  31. Your houseguests are adorable and about the only ones I would be able to handle right about now; although, I am sure you will manage to entertain them better than I could. :) Did you save them an apple pie? Hhhhmmmm ... I can smell it now. I need to bake. Have a great day. Tammy
