kitchin knittin'

After all of the holiday knitting and just a couple of weeks before we'll know the sex of the baby (because you know what I'll be casting on for then), I'm up for a bit of quick dishcloth production.  My dear friend in Montana placed an order and I'm happy to oblige.  This is a simple basket weave that probably has a more 'correct' application, but I've been making mine this way for quite some time and find it just right.  If you want some mindless knitting that requires limited skill and almost no concentration, (in other words you may watch your favorite television program or chat away with friends while clicking away) yet looks great and does the job... this is your workhorse.

Here's how I do it:

Using Peaches and Cream cotton and size 8 or 9 needles (depending how loose you like your fabric),

Easy peasy and that's the way something so utilitarian should be.  I've finished 2 and would like to do a few more before sending them to their new home.  I don't think Tami reads the blog so hopefully the fact that these are almost on their way will be a surprise.  :)

I almost forgot to mention the book!  This is actually Erin's, I borrowed it for the post because I'm not reading anything lately except for recipes.  The Masterpiece is book 2 of 3 in The Alcott Legacy (historical fiction) series by Maryann Minatra.  Erin isn't here for me to question right now.  All I can say is that she devoured book 1 in 2 days and said I need to read them.  I'd call that a recommend!

  4. I need to follow you and cast on a few dishcloths myself, mine are about worn out...guess that just goes to show how many dishes I do wash!

I love when one of the kid's falls deep into a book. I had to send Alex to bed at 1:40 this morning to get a little sleep as he was on the couch lost in his book and didn't realize the time.

    Happy Wednesday.

  19. I don't recommend books - I have far too many to read!! ;) If you like mystery, a friend of mine turned me on to Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series.

That same friend is taking me to buy yarn next week so she can teach me how to knit. :)

  20. Hi Debbie
I have been enjoying your blog- It's wonderful and very encouraging. Thanks for posting your knitted dish cloth pattern. I only know how to knit 1 thing and that is my grandmothers slipper pattern. I am so excited to try these dishcloths out. The book recommendation also is now on my list! Always looking for good reads.

    Blessings!
