a birth announcement
Larry and Debbie are proud to announce the arrival of the FIRST of their first fruits of the summer.
Name: Tomato P.
Born: August, 28, 2011
She's finally here! My firstborn. All pink (o.k., orange) and baby smooth. Don't tell me she's not perfect because after all of the time spent awaiting her date...
Congratulations...what do I send you? Salt and pepper or sugar? I can't wait to get some tomotoes in, but with jack frost still about, I'll have to wait for a month or so. Maa
Oh gee, how I love this post! It brought such a big smile to my face. I can totally relate. When we had our first peach from our peach tree 2 years ago, we divided it into 6 and all had a piece. Tomato P is amazing! Love Linda
Ahhhhh...she is indeed perfect...in all of her pink/orange beauty! (I also love the vintage napkin on which she nestles!) Enjoy this newest little blessing! :-D
Oh my word - I thought you were going to say Hillary was expecting! ha! But your little tomato is quite lovely. Are you going to just look at it? Or will you eventually eat it?
Lovely, indeed. COngratulations! We harvested the last of ours on Friday - only two left on our deck potted tomato plant. Leaves all brown and dry . . . time to say goodbye - and just in time for Irene. It would have to be cleared from the deck anyway. This weekend - fall decor - change of season - and enjoying the last of our tomato harvest in a luncheon salad. Joy! Kathy
You dear, dear friend! I am doing well, thank you so much for asking. It has been an incredibly crazy weekend! We live in the east, and were on the path of Hurricane Irene. So Friday afternoon, I was helping my friend set up for her daughter's wedding (the one for which Kati was a bridesmaid) which was to be held on Saturday. Then came a last minute decision to reschedule the wedding for THAT VERY NIGHT...in fact, only 3 hours from then! Phone calls were made, and people rushed home to shower, get dressed, do their hair and nails, and...yeah, right. In reality, we did what we could to be lovely in whatever time would allow...and scurried back to town for the wedding. Yikes! It turned out beautifully, by the way. (Kati did a post about the wedding on her blog.) Then on Saturday, we prayed and ate (too much!) and watched movies and waited for Irene to come and go. We were among the fortunate who did not even lose power! I am indulging myself in some birthday laziness today. Tomorrow is the memorial service for my friend's husband (also rescheduled due to Irene). And I am hoping for some "dull moments" in my future! {{{Hugs}}} from Cheryl...
I do not mean to insult or belittle your gardening abilities one little bit, but my eyes were beholden by her garment of display which reminds me of the handkerchief I lost at my Daddy's funeral...my very favorite.
She is lovely, now how are you going to prepare her, might I suggest sliced with some buffalo mozerella and fresh basil with just a drizzle of olive oil. Tomatoes one of the best things about summer.
Hi Debbie, She is very pretty, indeed! After announcing her birth like this, I am not so sure how I feel about you having her in your dinner salad now though?! :/
I hope you have a great evening...:) Blessings to you, xoxo...Gloria
