"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! a fresh heart and a fresh start

Twenty days is a long time.  It's a long time when you are trying to be single minded in your efforts. It's a long time to commit to staying away from something that has become as much a habit as coffee in the morning... which is exactly why fasting accomplishes the purpose of the one who is honored in our sacrifice. Last night was the wrap up party celebrating Forty Days For Life.  Today, I may be back at the keyboard but my desire is to continue to be reminded in this simple act of blogging, of the twenty days for change that funneled my thoughts and my prayers.  It was good.  Lives were saved.  Mine was changed. Soon I will detail some wonderful ways the Lord moved in my heart.  I look forward to sharing here again.

After twenty days of looking at the same picture on my computer screen (as I changed the reminder countdown) I decided to make a wreath using the flowers from the arrangement that decorated my table when the decision was first made to begin this fast.  A visual reminder of an important time of growth.

Thank you all for your support and prayers.  I'm so glad to be part of the family of God!  And I'm so glad to be back.

Blessings, Debbie

  2. I'm am SO glad you are back - I've missed you terribly. But I'm also very glad it was a good time for you spiritually. I know how badly it's needed sometimes to let go of the noise and refocus on God and the important things. Can't wait to hear more about it. :)

  18. I popped in from The Barefoot Crofter, intrigued by the guitar in the thumbnail for this post (as a late-beginner guitar player). Your fast sounds quite an achievement.

  23. I look forward to your future comments on your fast, Debbie. As for me, you spurred me on to more earnest prayer for life. And interestingly enough, I found that my prayer expanded to include the forgotten elderly in nursing homes, my friend Joseph who has such depression - that he would find a purpose in life - that our culture of death could become again a culture of life. Hearts need to change.
