"Let's be cheerful"! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant & happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right color and texture & the furniture comfortable and beautiful"! Baa, baa bare sheep..

Actually, in this case... alpaca!  I'm adding a new dimension to my fiber fanaticism.  My husband wonders, "Will it stink?"  We'll soon see!  :)

  3. Oh, you're really going at it - you must show as well as tell!

  4. That reminds me of my first wool dyeing experiment. My husband came home and ask, What's for dinner? He pop the cover open and saw my beautiful wool simmering gently in a dye bath. lol... I don't think that he was impresses with the cook or the smell.

I'm looking forward to seeing your processed fibres.

  5. Oh, you've piqued my interest! I'm knitting with baby alpaca yarn right now and it is sooooo soft and squishy and wonderful.

  6. Heck no, it doesn't stink...neither does wool! Dave, my husband, would tell me the wool stunk and I'd tell him, "No, it doesn't; it smells like money." I don't think he was amused as much as I -grin.

  7. When you figure out how to do something productive with soft and fluffy dog fur, let me know. I have a LOT of it....it seems too nice to just throw out.
Hope the alpaca doesn't stink too much! :-)

  8. Love that painting and I had a chalk board JUST LIKE THAT growing up. I loved it. Seeing yours brought back sweet memories. Sigh. Surely wool doesn't stink. Its the lanolin. (I have no idea what I'm talking about...but that doesn't stop me. haha) Glad to hear a peep from your neck of the woods.

  9. Ack! Lucky you! I dearly want to have some alpaca friends here at the farm. Imagine, fleecy friends. Sigh. Maybe someday. I can't wait to see what your fleece will transform into!

  13. My spinning guru (mother-in-law) always tells me to wash the alpaca after spinning. No idea why, but I've never minded the smell. Apron is a must though. Happy spinning.
