the waiting game

 

June 30th.  We know all about due dates, yet we still couldn't help but be excited when the day came... then went.  We looked forward to the fourth of July.  It came... it went.  The girls and I have been here for a week now and although it's been nice spending this time with Hillary and Monte, we thought (hoped) that we would be spending it with Hillary, Monte and Charlotte.

There is a story in here about being induced (obviously she wasn't, hurray!) but I won't tell that one today.  Nope.  This baby will come in it's time as babies do.

While we are waiting I'm enjoying the knitting.  We took a field trip to a cute little historical district yesterday and it just happened to have a cute little yarn shop.  Hillary picked a beautiful hand painted superwash for the EZ Baby Surprise Jacket that I cast on this morning.  I chose a yummy, soft, merino~angora blend (Hill picked the color) for the Peurperium that is now half finished.  The Plain Vest was started and finished a few days after we arrived.  

I'm really not reading anything since I have all of this wonderful company and my absorbing projects.  :)

So, since you've decided to bless me with a visit today, once again I ask for your prayers for a safe delivery and if you don't mind... add a rush order?  Grandma has to go home Sunday!

...where the heart is

A weekend with all of my girls, my mama, my son, my married in son and my son's girl who is fast becoming my girl too...  it was good.  Never let doubt or worry take hold, just go visit.  We're back home and I'm tired.  No matter that I'm feeling SO much better, still... I'm no spring chicken.  :)

What did the bee say to the naughty one?  Beehive yourself.  :)

 Culminate ~  definition:  To bring to a head or to the highest point.

He sang us a garden song.  He told us all about butterflies and ladybugs and bees and ants.  He read us his entire notebook and did a fabulous job.  Did you know that ants use their mandibles to move their eggs. Hard to picture crushing mandibles (argh!)  moving delicate eggs.  I never really thought about it until he told me. And did you know that a ladybug's spots are for their protection?  They are to look like eyes? Never really thought much about that one either.  Yes.  Many things someone who has lived almost half a century should know were explained to us by this 7 year old.  Did you know that ants create a graveyard where they drag their dead?  That one was shared by his old Auntie.  Did you know that sometimes the graveyard has ants that aren't quite dead?  That horrifying observation was made by grammie while watching the ant farm included in the ant display room.  Yes.  It was a very informative evening. 

And delicious... observed the sister!
