I was brought up on Wonderbread commercials and was dedicated to that soft, squishy, sweet stuff. My mother became health conscious and wheat came onto the scene - but it wasn't much better than the white - until she started making her own. I made my own bread when we were first married - four or five loaves at a time, all by hand. But I wearied of that when we had kids. Then G sold his favorite electric guitar and bought me a Bosch maker, which I used for years. Somehow, we drifted away from home made for years. Now G is the gourmet bread maker, using a high-class bread machine and his own recipes. So my kids never had a chance - they were brought up on multigrain, whole wheat - and home made crusts taste GREAT. With cinnamon and butter, hot out of the oven - heaven.

pronunciation: La cannelle pain

The "la" sounds as expected, a little more soft than the spanish, perhaps

can-elle. You speak the two "l's" lovingly, allowing the tip of your tongue to linger on the palette at the end, not so much as to add a vowel sound at the end (which would sound Italian), but with the hint that a schwa still shimmers at the end of them.

"pain" - it's "Pa" but you end the sound way up in your sinus - your nose. A very high "angh" with that open air "gh" at the end.

Right. I've helped, huh?Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02040714440875408436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3792106146507446102.post-66551510130907905502011-09-22T09:05:39.706-07:002011-09-22T09:05:39.706-07:00I have to admit that I'm not a crust eater...d...I have to admit that I'm not a crust eater...don't know why but the dog is happy because he gets what I don't eat:) Cool use of a cocktail shaker.
